He was born on December 24, 1971 in Puerto Rico. He became popular when he joined a boy band named Menudo. He is also an actor and appeared in a telenovela and film. He has recorded songs in Spanish and English.He founded Ricky Martin Foundation and received awards for humanitarian efforts. In 2008 he became father of twin boys.

He was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and was a member of a boy band before going solo. He supported George W. Bush and sang at his inauguration.
