July's People deals with apartheid in South Africa. It follows a white family, Bam and Maureen Smales, who are sympathetic to the plight of blacks when the blacks start a revolution. The Smales family is then isolated. The book treats the issue of racism well and gives the reader a nice adventure to follow along with.
