NEVER give human medications to a cat unless prescribed by a vet, as they can be toxic and lead to severe medical problems or even death. That said, some vets do - on occasion - prescribe antihistamines for felines. Consult your vet to find out if your cat is a candidate and for the right dosage.

Some antihistamines are safe for cats, although most human medications are not. It is vital to consult with your veterinary professional first to ensure that you know what condition you are treating, that the drug in question is safe for cats, and finally, that you are giving an appropriate dose.

Any medication you give to any animal should either be something specially made for that type of animal or something your vet has given you. Never give an animal human medication as it can cause serious health problems. Cats systems are much different from human systems and something that might make you feel better could kill your pet.

Yes, antihistamines such as Benadryl can be given to your animals (dogs and cats alike) however, your vet will need to give you the correct dosage. Benadryl is used in animals from everything from allergies to motion sickness so it shouldn't be a big deal for your vet to give you a dosage. Good Luck!
