Can you get a cold from a cat?

My cat is sick and I think I caught it from him.

You can not catch a cold from your cat or any other pet for that matter. There are certain diseases that are "zoonotic" which means they can be transfered from animal to human, but the common cold is not one of them.

There are very few diseases that can be passed from a cat to a person. The common cold is not one of them. Both cats and humans have unique respiratory viruses that can cause similar symptoms but are not transferrable.

No, the types of germs that cause a human cold and those that cause a cat cold are not transferrable.
