Can you explain to me what the continental plates are?

continental plate are plates of rock under each continent which keep the continent from sinking. they occasionally move away or towards eachother when they move towards eachother they cause an earth quake and when they move away then towards eachother they cause tsunani.

Continental plates sit just below the earths crust. They are always moving, and when they slip suddenly they can cause earthquakes. The Earths plates move over 2 inches a year!
