Can you cook cried beans in the microwave?

Answer by  sanfayedr (110)

Goodness no! You have several options on cooking dried beans and all of them take a lot of time. You must first soak the beans in water overnight; preferably with baking soda. Once the beans are softened you can bake them, boil them or use a pressure cooker. Microwaves are fine to reheat the beans.

I wouldn't recommend it. Sometimes it is okay to reheat them in the microwave, but if you don't cook them on the stove-top first, you aren't going to have any flavor.

Dried beans need to be soaked for 8-24 hours in cold water before cooking. Once soaked, dried beans can be cooked in the microwave by adding 6-8 cups of water and seasonings, bringing to a boil on full power, and then reducing power to 50% and simmering for 15-25 minutes.

It isn't recommended, but you can. Just be prepared for them to explode/get messy, cover with a paper towel or something. The beans won't cook as well - beans need to be cooked for a long time to come out correctly.

I think the question is about dried beans. We can cook dried beans in microwave. But the only thing is that we have to soak the beans in water overnight or you have to boil the dried beans with water. Soaking will help to cook the beans in microwave easily.

Yes, you can! Soak beans overnight, drain them and put them in a microwaveable container with 6-8 cups of fresh hot water. Cover it cook at full power for 20mins.

You can but keep in mind that when you cook the beans they need to be in water with some salt added. You are going to want to cook them for eight to ten minutes, allow them to cool down a bit. You are then going to set your microwave to medium power and cook for another twenty minutes.

I think you mean dried beans, don't you? Yes you can cook them in the microwave, but you cannot really get a faster result that way. You still have to soak and steep those beans in water for up to 24 hours before you cook them, or they will be hard in the middle, whatever way you boil them up.
