Orthognathic surgery has a risk of chin numbness that may not be treatable. Options for treatment include nerve surgery and steroid injections. Even with treatment this paralysis may be permanent.

If you have undergone orthognathic surgery, one of the potential changes post-surgical is numbness of the chin. Though this can be caused by an accidentally crushed nerve, it will probably go away.

Yes it does cause numbness. I actually had orthognathic surgery before and not only did my chin become numb but so did my lower lip. It wasn't a pleasant experience. My friend had surgery before to he said that he experienced very bad headaches from the surgery that lasted for about 2 weeks.
