The most common side effect of magnesium is diarrhea, with allergic reactions coming second - tics are not a typical side effect. Tics are a noted side effect of magnesium deficiency, and may occur in children who are not getting enough magnesium in their diet. If the child has started taking magnesium and is experiencing tics, consult a doctor immediately.

A diet low in magnesium can result in people developing tics. The best cure for this is to evaluate the diet of the individual. Once the magnesium levels increase, the tics will subside.

A lack of magnesium can result in many problems, including tics. They can develop unusual blinking habits and involuntary facial movements. Changes in diet can eliminate this problem. Some products, like wheat, do not contain magnesium. Check product labels to make sure your child is getting enough magnesium in his/her diet.

A tic is a brief, rapid, recurrent, and seemingly purposeless stereotyped motor contraction. Motor tics can be "simple," with movement only affecting an individual muscle group (e. g. , blinking, twitching of the nose, jerking of the neck), or "complex," with coordinated involvement of multiple muscle groups [e. g. , jumping, sniffing, head banging, and echopraxia]. Magnesium can't result in children having tics.

Actually, it is quite the opposite. A magnesium deficiency can lead to a child having tics. Adding magnesium enriched foods to your child's diet may help prevent the ticks. Most likely, the tics will go away on their own.
