Can I use linseed oil on redwood?

I would not recommend it. It can damage the surface and in really hot weather remain tacky for a long time. It can also cause blemishes within the wood making look unattractive.

Linseed oil, also known as flax seed oil is a clear to yellowish oil obtained. Linseed oil is used on redwood. Varnish in wood finishing.

Pure linseed oil should not be used on redwood as it promotes the growth of mildew. Oil-based finishes that include linseed oil contain mildewcides and can be used.

You should not use linseed oil by itself because they tend to attract the growth of mildew, this is especially a problem if the redwood being treated is on the exterior of your home.

Linseed oil is vegetable based and therefore it has a tendency to grow mold. It is not reccomended for use on beautiful redwood.

It is not recommended that linseed oil on redwood because it can promote mildew growth. You could use it but the care for it would be a bit much and like I mentioned it is hard to maintain and avoid the growth of mildew so it is realy not worth it.

It is nothing to worry. It wouldn't do any harm or damage the red wood. Further it will polish the redwood. But if applied generously wood will become sticky.
