Generally speaking, baking soda is a good candidate for odor reduction. Though I haven't ever tried it on ammonia specifically, I have succesfully used it to combat other odors, including cigarette smoke, rotten food, and sewage.

Yes baking soda will eliminate ammonia smell. I use it in the cat litter box and it does a great job of getting rid of the ammonia smell. People come over and dont even know I have cats untill one walks in the room.

Baking soda has been proven to be very effective in removing ammonia smells such as dog or cat urine from carpets and furniture. There are recipes available on the internet for what exact steps to take to help with cleaning up this terrible odor. Can also be used in cat litter boxes to prevent odors

One can use baking soda in combination with vinegar to remove pet stain odors. Work the solution into the stain. Be sure to let the solution sit on the stain until visibly dry, then vaccuum.
