You can but it is very difficult to do. Getting a technician's help will surely be of the most benefit. It will save you time and will also be very convenient.

Yes, IF you get full instructions and follow them to the letter. If you can't do this, then it would be better to get a professional.

Yes, tray ceiling kits are available and easy to install, even in an existing structure. Contact your local home improvement store for kit information and installation advice.

Take a look at some samples to decide which way you are going to go. Then decide how deep you want the ceiling to go and the deeper you go means that you will deffinately use more molding. The you are going to need to saw all the excess molding. You can do it by yourself easily.

It is possible to tackle installing a tray ceiling yourself. However, you will need to have a few tools and a little carpentry knowledge to get the job done.

This is not a good idea as tray ceilings can be a structural change. If you are going to apply material to the existing ceiling that is one thing, but to change the structure you should at least consult a contractor to see if your tray ceiling is at all possible.

Yes. But this very much depends on your abilities as a carpenter. If you asked the question you probably don't have the necessary skils.

With a bit of research you could definitely be able to install a drop or tray ceiling yourself. Look online or buy a book about exactly how to do this.

Absolutely not! I am clumsy and pay little attention to details involving measurements and linkages. The fact that I am afraid of heights would disable me.

Just because you are clumsy and afraid of heights (your words, not mine), doesn't mean that the question asker shouldn't give it a try. Installing a tray ceiling is an ambitious project, but with some good planning and a methodological approach, it's doable.  add a comment
