Question by  Umer (18)

Can an ultrasound use CRL measurements to date a pregnancy back to conception?

I would like a more accurate date of my pregnancy and am concerned that the doctors will not be able to.

When you go for your Ultra Sound the Ultra Sound Technician measures the dimension of the baby's head and body in order to determine it's size. With these measurements they can more accurately tell the age of the fetus.

It is really hard to tell the exact date of when you conceived your child. Even your due date is based around your last period before you got pregnant. Though if they tell you that the baby is x weeks, then it is around then you conceived.

Yes, a CRL measurement in early pregnancy is more accurate than going by the first day of your last menstrual period. The earlier the ultrasound, the more accurate the results.

Yes a crl can somewhat date a pregnancy back to conception, this is because only certain developments happen at a certain time during the first few weeks of a pregnancy.
