No, single pole circuit breaker cannot be wired backwards. But we can connect just about any type of wire in any direction. But you should recognize all the wire. Re commented not to do that.
You can wire just about anything backwards, but it is not a good idea. A circuit breaker with electricity flowing the wrong way will not trip at the right level.
There is only one termination point on a single pole breaker and that is it. You want to make sure you have the black or hot wire on the breaker and the neutral and ground going to their respective spot in the panel. So, no you can't.
