It is possible for a baby to get herpes during birth but if you go on acyclovir or other medication prior to the delivery it lessens the possibility of infection.

Herpes can definitely be transmitted from mother to child. Another complication to a baby with a mother who has herpes is that the baby can end up being blind. Before having children, it's best to get bloodwork done.
