Are verbal agreements binding in Texas?

I made a verbal agreement with someone who is trying to back out on me.

If you can proove that the agreement was made verbally, then yes they are. The challenge will be in providing evidence (a witness, verbal recording, emails, etc). Without substantial evidence to support your claim, nothing much can be done.

A verbal agreement is binding, unless it is a contract for certain specific categories of real property (as in, real estate) or above a certain value. However, you may have a difficult time proving that there ever was a contract in the first place without written documentation.

Possibly. Any supporting documentation, evidence, references to the agreement, results of the agreement, etc. helps your case. Otherwise it's just a matter of your word against his.
