I heard someone was buying them, but I don't think it happened.

Yes they are and they have continued to do so. The Pontiac is gone but Saturn will still be around for a while.

GM's Saturn, Pontiac, and Hummer brands will either been shut down or are being sold. As far as I know Hummer is the only brand with a buyer interested.
