Other than it takes longer to recover, dentist are very concerned about at that age and older, we become more suseptable to infection, which can lead to cardiac problems quickly. Generally, you'll be required to take antibiotics prior to your surgery.

I will be 63 next month and I just had a wisdom tooth removed today. There were no concerns by my dentist. Rest and no work tomorrow that was it.
