The biggest concern is whether or not you are taking any medications for osteoporosis. Tell your dentist if you are. Otherwise, it is a routine tooth extraction.

Removing wisdom teeth can cause the other teeth in one's mouth to shift around. This could exacerbate other dental problems in someone over age 50.

No. Not unless your medical history includes heart surgery or anticoagulant drugs like asprin or warfrin. It is based on individual medical history rather than age.

Other than it takes longer to recover, dentist are very concerned about at that age and older, we become more suseptable to infection, which can lead to cardiac problems quickly. Generally, you'll be required to take antibiotics prior to your surgery.

The risk of nerve damage increases substantially, which can cause permanent loss of sensation in the mouth. Also, recovery time becomes very unpredictable, and complications are likely.

I will be 63 next month and I just had a wisdom tooth removed today. There were no concerns by my dentist. Rest and no work tomorrow that was it.
