Are there any known issues with a 1998 Chevy Lumina?

Well with any older car you always run the risk of bad batteries, gunky engines, slippy transmissions that sort of thing, but if you trust the dealer that you're purchasing it from I wouldn't worry to much about a Chevy Lumina. They were pretty solid cars back in there time.

Steering problems are one of the most cited issues with the '98 Lumina. Have the car checked by an authorized mechanic before you make the purchase.

There are several known issues with a 1998 Chevy Lumina. The two most important are: a leak with the intake manifold gasket, and a tendency for head gasket failure. They have also been known to have electrical issues.

Some Luminas are known for transmission problems. All cars eventually have problems though when they get to be at least 10 years old.
