I know that with our boys, we first had to wait until they were ready. Good indications that they are ready include being able to communicate the need to go and being able to undress, wipe and wash hands. Much of this will require assistance for quite some time, so patience on your part is key.

Put the child on the potty seat/toilet about 30 minutes after eating and then again about 3-4 hours after eating. If that doesn't seem to be the right timing (it is for most but not for all) then adjust the timing as needed, plus or minus time.

Not really, however it is recommended that you take your child to the potty every 45 min to an hour, and give praise every time your child successfully uses the potty. Every time they don't use it, don't get mad or frustrated, just act like nothing happened.

You need to notice what your child does when he wants to make potty. My son used to just sit quietly, so i would make him sit on the potty.
