Yes, especially in older cats. Just like people you can usually tell by the confusion or neurological symptoms. Sometimes the cat will "miss the litter box" or have shakiness in the rear legs. An inability to stand and eat, or falling over and just staying there will be another sign.

Strokes in domestic cats are uncommon, but they do occur. If you are worried that your cat has suffered a stroke, the symptoms to look out for are: trouble walking or trouble using their hind legs, pupils of their eyes being different sizes, and unresponsive to stimuli.

To my knowledge No, strokes are not common in domestic cats as they are 'indoor' animals. Indoor cats are not subjected to the normal health hazards that outdoor cats come across. It is for this reason that Vets suggest that indoor cats only have to be examined every two years or so.

Strokes are not common unless your cat is older. Some older cats, like humans, have blockages in various arteries which can dislodge and produce a stroke. In cats, several strokes in a row may be a sign of deteriorating health. Make sure she stays in safe surroundings where she cannot hurt herself if she falls.
