It depends on the skin tones and the design. Pale red make the suits look tacky mostly. Venetian red for darker skin and scarlet for lighter skin would be look good and glamorous.
Any shade of red. Think Nancy Reagan. The style, cut and length of the suit is more important than the shade. If the suit is tailored, without too much ornamentation, it would be suitable for just about any occasion.
