Giant pandas are very rare having less than 2,500 mature pandas in the wild. This is due mainly to the fact that Pandas only live in certain areas and need lots of bamboo to eat unfortunately the areas they live are being destroyed and used up by humans needing more space for themselves and their livestock.

Yes. Unfortunately Pandas are an endangered species. The reason for the rapid loss of the species is their habitat is being destroyed. Their main diet is bamboo. Bamboo is slow growing and it's hard to replace when destroyed. The main reason for the decline of the Panda is the loss of Bamboo habitats.

The number of pandas is constantly decreasing due to one main problem- habitat loss. Bamboo takes a very long time to grow, and unfortunately it's the pandas primary source of food. They no longer have the ability to move onto another source of bamboo when they eat all of their current forest.

Panda's are currently endangered, many zoo's keep them and try to raise the population. Slowly the population is increasing, though it is and will remain at a dangerous low for a long time.
