Mothballs are toxic and can cause health problems, but they work in keeping cats from using gardens and plants for litter boxes. Tea leaves sprinkled around gardens and plants is a safe alternative. Cats do not like lavender(nor do deer) or geraniums and keeping those plants would be beneficial. Rue and pennyroyal are two other plants they abhore.

Absolutely. Package has warnings. If you need to use them, place them inside two layers of socks and secure inside clostet so the cat cannot walk off with the sock.

If your cat ate 1 or 2 he/she should be fine however, if you cat ate a bunch of them you should take him/her to the vet right away. Moth Bolls do contain harmful chemicals but they usually only have a few MG of the active ingredient so it would take a few to cause harm.

Cats don`t eat anything that is not appealing to them. Very unlike dogs, that will eat anything. With their keen sense of smell, a cat would back away from moth balls.
