Sure free christmas stencils will work fine in comparison with the ones you can buy in the store. the only difference would be the material it's made of.

I think so. Of course it would depend on the design you want. You can sometimes get really cute stencils for free from the back of cereal boxes around the holidays. I have even seen stencils made by tracing around holiday cookie cutters.

Free Christmas stencils are the same, but if your printing them from online than try to get some good hard paper. The main difference between free and purchased stencils is the paper material used for the stencil.
