Doxycycline is an antibiotic in the family of tetracyclines. It is for bacterial infections. Ketoconazole is an antifungal agent, used to treat fungal organsisms. If used together, this to to treat multiple organisms or your doctor is grasping at straws and should have done a culture instead.

Doxycycline is an antibiotic that treats bacterial infections. Ketoconazole is an antifungal that treats fungal infections. These two medications can be used together if your physician believes that different infections are occurring. A physician may use both if a diagnosis is difficult and wants to try to treat the patient.

Doxycycline is an antibiotic. Ketoconazole is an anti-fungal. They can be prescribed together if the diagnosis warrants. One does not preclude the other, although patients should report any difficulties to their physicians.

These drugs are used together. They have different functions. Doxycycline is an antibiotic and ketoconazole is an antifungal. Combined they can treat infections that may be both bacterial and fungal.
