Usually, discounted pool tables are models that did not sell quickly, for a multitude of reasons. Color, styling, and price are some reasons a table might be discounted.
No they are not usually older models. They are probably on discount for several reasons that you don't even know. Sometimes things are new but people don't want them anymore. So I would suggest getting it on a discount and check out craigslist or ebay for more information and good tables.
