African violets are not poisonous. You can eat the blooms and they are sometimes put on cakes and such as edible decorations after being crystallized. They will make your salads more colorful. They also are used in violet tea, violet cakes, syrup, and vinegar. They also can be placed on serving plates as a colorful decoration.
