Are 1st class stamps and forever stamps the same thing?

Both stamps are used for the same purpose, such as mailing letters or regular envelopes but, you will still be able to use forever stamps if the price per stamp increases. A regular first class stamp is only worth the price stated on the actual stamp, whereas a forever stamp will always be good.

No. Forever stamps are valid as a 1st class stamp at any time, regardless of their purchase price, whereas 1st class stamps purchased now require additional postage when 1st class stamp prices increase.

Both 1st class stamps and forever stamps can be used for first class letters. A forever stamp can be used no matter what the cost has changed to.
