A strong minded breed with a willingness to take charge as is expected in a dog that handles cattle for a living. Deafness and eye problems are known health issues.

Blue Heelers have a generally good temperament and aren't agressive. They do form very strong bonds with their owners though, and will remain cautious of strangers and new situations. They are an Australian Cattle dog and were bred to do just that: herd cattle. AS for Health problems they do suffer from retinal detioration and hereditary deafness.

Blue Heelers, aka Australian Cattle Dogs, tend to be very high energy and do best in a home where they will be worked. They were bred to herd cattle (and nip at their heels) so they aren't usually a good fit for families with young children. They are generally healthy dogs but do have some genetic eye issues.

Heelers are pretty healthy dogs. They require a little bit of room to run. Heelers are working dog and need to have something to do and challenge them during the day. Agility courses are popular with Heeler owners.

Heelers were bred to herd. They're extremely intelligent, but as a herder they require a great deal of interaction and exercise. They need to run. Very devoted, best as a one person dog. Not very barky, but protective. Can be prone to hip dysplasia, so be sure of your breeder.
