Well, this is the organ where all the blood is pumped. If you do not get it treated, then you may suffer some heart problems such as clogged arteries, which can be prevented. Try to follow up with your doctor. It could be differing circumstances for you and you should ask.

It can lead to atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation. It can also lead to atrial clots which may go back into the circulation and into the lungs, or into other parts of the body via the left ventricle.

Because anything to with the blood moving through your body that isn't correct can cause a multitude of other problems that can be long term those type things are concerning.

Left atrial enlargement indicates that there is back up of flow in the left side of the heart. It has many causes like heart failure and valvular lesions.
