The cause depends on if the glitch was with the machine or you. All electronic devises can have problems from time to time and you would simply need a repeat ekg. If it is you, then something was on your ekg that was abnormal. Ask your doctor for clarification.

Most commonly it is a elecrode problem. this could be bad placement by the technician or could be a simple as one of them did not stick as good as it should. Motion artifact is also very common and could be as benign as you breathed to deeply during the tracing.

An EKG glitch may be due to human error, such as incorrect placement of the electrodes. It is also possible that there was interference such as from a mobile phone.

It would appear that the EKG machine didn't work properly. It could be anything from a man-made error (i. e. the wires and tabs were not put on you properly or someone jiggled the machine while it was running) or a mechanical/technical issue with the EKG.
