Will an ultrasound scan confirm a pregnancy?

Can it definitely show you're not pregnant?

If you are far enough along in your pregnancy, yes, an ultrasound can confirm or deny the presence of a pregnancy. It can also help your doctor determine whether the pregnancy is correctly placed (in the uterus), and if you're still early, exactly how far along you are. Ultrasounds are very effective tools in determining a number of things.

Ultrasounds can only be used to confirm or deny a pregnancy after about six weeks. Prior to that, bloodwork is usually used to test qHCG levels (a pregnancy hormone) in the blood.

Yes, it can. It will show everything in there except for endometriosis. If you have an ectopic pregnancy it will show that too.

Yes as long as the ultrasound is not too early. You can usually see an embryo on an ultrasound as early as five weeks and certainly by eight weeks.
