If it is a male chasing another male, then it is probably just defending its territory. If it is a male and female, then one or both might be in heat. Or it's possible they are just playing with each other. If the cats live together, they may be playing or fighting for territory.

More than likely they are just playing. that is how they play, much like children chase each other around. I would not worry about it, because all cats do it.

A cat would be chasing another cat for more than one reason. The reason could be possibly playing or pouncing on each other. They could also both be going into heat.

A male cat may chase a female cat that is in heat for the purpose of breeding. Cats have also been known to chase another cat in order to fight or play.

Cats chasing other cats is quite common in the feline world. A cat could be chasing another cat in a playful way, or he/she may be chasing the other cat to show dominance. Cats can be competitive with each other, and if one is chasing the other away, that's why.

Domestic house cats are predatory animals, even though it appears to be playing with the other cat. It still has the instincts to be hunting and chasing something. Besides, it needs to do something when it is bored.
