Why type of fish requires you to buy a tall fish tank?

The length and width of the fish tank are not as important as the number of gallons. I'm not aware of any type of fish that requires a tall fish tank. All you have to do is make sure the tank has enough gallons for the fish to swim freely.

There really isn't any type of fish that needs a tall fish tank. They move in all 3 directions. Bigger tanks are better.

Tall fish tanks are preferred when you are setting up a freshwater fish tank. Keep in mind maintance is more difficult when you have a tall narrow fish tank. They make it difficult to clean. Tall fish tanks are a great choice if space is not an issue and you have an idea of how you will keep it clean.

Any lotic fish that will utilize that vertical space would work well in a tall think. Select fish with mouths that point upward.

There really aren't any fish that require a tall tank, however the length of the tank can be important for very active fish, and large fish require more volume.

A fish tank that is longer rather than tall is always preferred, since fish swim in a horizontal and not in a vertical direction. Tall fish tanks are only suitable for smaller fish. There are no fish that require a tall tank.
