Navel refers to the center of something; or the greatest point. The navel was believed to be the center of sexuality for women and still is in the middle east.

The word is traced back to Old English. Some of the variations as "nafela," followed by a variety of German variations, including "nabel." The Sanskrit word "nabhila" means "relationship." In the Greek language, there was a relationship with the word "umbilicus," which is the scar left by the umbilical cord. Hence, it is referred to as the navel.
