Well if it has a carburetor than the choke might no be working. You may also need to do a tune up and check your plug gaps and timing.

Car batteries get cold in the winter and it makes it hard sometime to start the engine. You need to buy a stronger battery like a diehard or something.

It depends on the type of engine in the car. If it's a diesel, The fuel may have gelled. You can add Anti- Gel additive for this. Gasoline engine may need a tune up.

It could be a few things. Batteries can malfunction in cold weather; most parts stores can test it for free. You should also check the fuel filter and fuel lines.

All cars are difficult to start when cold- think of the car system like the cardio-vascular- things need to get flowing. Golfs were often made as diesel- diesel fuel gels under certain temps, an engine warmer is required in northern climates. Check your battery and terminals- investing in a top of the line battery ends up being very cost effective.

Gasoline is difficult to evaporate in the cold, so it is more difficult to ignite to get the car started.
