One possibility could be that the fuel regulator is allowing too much fuel flow, causing a larger combustion. This can cause a build up of heat, but you should also notice a drop in fuel economy, as this will burn gasoline quicker. Usually, though, a fuel pressure regulator comes, from the factory, pre-calibrated for optimal performance.

It is probably just a coincedence. You may have a bad thermostat, or you may need new cooling fans or relays. Check your coolant level before anything though.

Did you have to drain the radiator and remove the hoses to get to the regulator? If so did you refill the cooling system properly? Remove radiator cap and bring engine up to normal operating temp then check to see if there is flow in the cooling system by viewing fluid. Check thermostat and replace as needed.

That is a stranger problem. The only reason it might overheat related to fuel is if the engine is running lean and overheating. More than likely though something else was disconnected or damaged. Go back and check all the stuff around where you were working.
