An engine running hot could be caused by many things. Some possible causes are low coolant level, a stuck thermostat, the water pump not functioning properly or a clog in the radiator. Start by checking the coolant level. If you are mechanically inclined, the thermostat is inexpensive and relatively easy to replace.

Couple of reasons perhaps. You might have a cracked radiator or gasket causing your car to leak water and anti-freeze or the fans on your engine may have stopped running, either due to poor car care or the electronic thermostat sensor that detects when your car is hot has broken.

It sounds like you have a bad thermoustat in the car. You should try that because it is a five dollar piece and it will cause the car to overheat.

Well, if it running hot and it gets heated often, there is an internal problem. You may need to add some antifreeze but also could mean that the engine is burned out.

That model is famous for having a cheap thermostat which sticks in the closed position. It takes only 10 minutes to replace and cost 5 bucks.
