Why does my oil light come on when my oil is full?

The oil light may be indicating that you have a very low oil pressure which can lead to engine problems. Check you manual to see if that is the case.

The oil light on most cars means there is a low oil pressure condition not that the oil level is low. You need to have a mechanic find the problem.

There could be a couple reasons. It could be that your oil pump is failing and causing a oil pressure problem. However the light could be on do to the sensor malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. You should take your vehicle to get checked as soon as possible.
