Yeast infections usually develop in the vagina. Yeast can be present in other parts of the body, and develop into an infection, but this is rare. Since men do not have vaginas, it is very uncommon that they will get a yeast infection. Overall yeast infections are more common in women.

A yeast infection develops in a damp and dark place. That in itself should explain why women get those infections. Babies can get yeast infections as well. My baby boy got a bad diaper rash that developed into a yeast infection (the diaper is dark and damp!) In any case, it needs to be treated!

Women get yeast infections when the pH balance in the vagina changes and allows an overgrowth of Candida, which is normally found in low quantities. Men actually do develop yeast infections as well as women, but they aren't as frequent because it needs a warm, moist, dark environment to thrive.
