Grills in the mouth are mainly created with precious metals such as gold or titanium. They are both visible and usually expensive. People wear these in their mouth to acknowledge their social status, environment, and or a way to express their income status. Grills may have designs, gems, or even words.

People like grills in their mouth because society says if you have money a grill is what you should blow it on. Grills are a popular trend within the hip hop society.

Grills have been a trend amongst the hip hop community for years. It's a symbol of wealth. As with many trends, when people see a celebrity or wealthy person with it, they want one as well.
