Pregnancy (or breastfeeding issues) are the most common causes of breast soreness. If that is not possible, breast tenderness can be related to hormones from your menstrual cycle. It's also possible to pull or strain your pectoral muscle (directly below your breast) which may feel similar to breast soreness. This is likely if it hurts more when you move.

Breasts can become sore due to many things but mainly hormonal shifts. Before beginning your period, or in the first three months of pregnancy this is typically common. Less likely, is a blocked duct or gland and is most often seen in nursing mothers.

Breast soreness can happen at different times during your menstrual cycle, such as just before and during your period. It can also happen during puberty when you are growing. If the problem continues or is severe, see a doctor.

Breats can become tender around the time your period is due. Also, unusual breast soreness, as in they are more tender than usual, could be a sign of pregnancy. If your nipples tingle or the area around the nipple becomes darker, then you should think about taking a pregnancy test to see if that's why your breasts are sore.
