Why are gingerbread houses associated with Christmas?

The gingerbread man has long since been a Christmas cookie staple. Then came the gingerbread girl. Well, they needed a place to live and so the gingerbread house was born. And no, Hansel and Gretel is not a Christmas story. At least not to me.

It is part of the German tradition to tell the story of Hansel and Gretel since it is Germany's most famous tale. As well as Gingerbread is a popular treat.

No i didnt think so .They do run into a ginger bread house in the story.The one i read did.

Yes, Hansel and Gretel is a Christmas Story that was originally told to children as a part of the Morals Collection. That is why gingerbread houses are conducted for christmas.
