Why are buttons on the opposite side for men's shirts?

Some opinions are that it followed the style of armor from knight days. Then buttons needed to be opposite from a right-handed opponent who could slip a sword into the seam. Other versions are that it came from the nineteenth century of men dressing themselves while women had servants to lace them into shirts and dresses.

the men's shirts button are placed on the opposite side to protect them while they are fighting with sword. the men are mostly right-handed so it is placed opposite side..
