They were the kings of Ancient Egypt. They ruled over their kingdom and then their son took over. The ancestry lines were split up by dynasties. When a king line ended (a pharaoh had no son to take over), a new pharaoh was crowned and oversaw Egypt. Ramses II was one famous pharaoh.

There were a lot of them but the best ones are King Tut. Cleopatra was also an egyptian pharoah as well.
