Leif Ericson was a Norse explorer who is believed to be the first European to have landed on what today is North America (somewhere in the vicinity of Labrador, Canada) some 500 years before Christopher Columbus made the trip.
Leif Ericson was a Viking explorer who was born in Iceland in 975 and died in 1020. It is believed that he might have been the first European explorer to reach North America. He went to Greenland and helped convert Greenlanders to Christianity.
