Answer by  Clement (1453)

The word is originally French, sociologie, and was coined in 1780 by an essayist Emmanuel Joseph Sieyès. Although his manuscript was not published, it was later (1838) discovered by Auguste Comte, who is commonly regarded as the father of sociology. Prior to 1838 Comte used the term "social physics".
