Miguel de Cervantes, the author of "Don Quixote" is likely on a lot of "best" lists. Also, considering authors of Spain and Latin American, the list would include Gabriel García Márquez, Miguel Hernández, Vargas Llosa, Isabel Allende, Arturo Pérez Reverte, Carlos Ruíz Zafón, Federico García Lorca, Javier Marias, Eduardo Lago, Octavio Paz and Pablo Neruda (my favorite).

Some of the greatest even go back to the middle ages. Seneca was a great philosopher in the middle ages along with poets like Martial. One of the greatest writers was Spanish Civil War poet Miguel Hernanadez who was known as a soldier poet during that time.
