Arguably the world's most famous ballerina was Anna Pavlova, who was born in Russia in 1881. Another was Dame Margot Fonteyn, who danced with the Royal Ballet and partnered with Rudolf Nureyev. Yet another famous ballerina was Natalia Makarova, also born in Russia, who danced with the Kirov Ballet.
