Telling the truth builds trust, while lying destroys trust. Trust is an essential ingredient in healthy interpersonal relationships. Leaders can only succeed by winning the trust of those who would follow. Intimate relationships with those we love are entirely trust dependent. Truth telling will almost always lead to the better outcome.

Typically, telling the truth leads to the better outcomes because consistently lying and doing so successfully requires an excellent memory and agile mind in order to keep track of all the facts about the lies. Even the best liars eventually risk exposure, which obviously could have very negative consequences.

Truth has a better outcome in terms of healing and building future relations. Facing the truth however painful gives credence for a person's goo will and sense or responsibility. It is always freeing in character since one does not have a line of things to keep in memory to avoid contradiction in speech or other way. It is honorable to tell the truth
